Ceiling mounts In progress
Lights are ceiling objects and can share a floor tile with a station. A player-toggled ceiling editing layer on L is not in this build. No key handler switches a ceiling layer, and L is not bound.
What works today
The only ceiling-mounted build tool is Light. The ghost and the placed fixture sit on the ceiling draw order, above the floor station and under walls. Ceiling lights used to seal the aisle as solid. They do not do that now, so a light can sit on a Package Sorting pad or another floor station.
- Placing a light does not remove the station under it.
- Deleting or uninstalling, when a ceiling prop shares the tile and you did not ask for a floor station, peels the ceiling piece first.
- If the tool you are using is the Light tool, that preference stays on the ceiling. A floor or station tool does not steal the light.
- Maintenance treats ceiling jobs and floor jobs as different layers, so a pending light does not cancel a pending station on the same cell, and the other way around.
Lights still need power. Rooms without windows need them, and so do early morning, evening, night, and overnight even when the room has windows. See Utilities.
What is not shipped
In progress There is no ceiling layer you turn on with L, and no other hotkey that enters a "ceiling only" build mode. You place lights from the Utilities tab like any other object. The game decides the layer from the object, not from a mode you toggle.
Fire extinguishers and other wall or floor props are not ceiling mounts in the catalog check. Only Light returns true.
