Stamps

Stamp sheets sit on each Service Counter. A clerk sells them at a window that still has enough sheets. An Auto Postage Machine (cleared in Operations, then Deals) can sell sheets without a clerk at the window, and it takes those sheets from the nearest Service Counter that has enough stock. There is no stamp theft mechanic, and the safe is not a loot target.

Prices and build costs below are sim units. The HUD shows them in your currency. The default currency is US dollars, so a 480 safe displays as $480 until you change it.

Service Counter stock

  • Each Service Counter holds 120 sheets.
  • A new counter starts at 24, not empty and not full.
  • The first Service Counter in the tutorial mission starts at 72. Later counters in that mission, and every counter outside it, start at 24. The larger opening float is there so stamp-only lobby days do not sell out before you can order more.
  • An empty counter is out of stock, not broken. Inspect says to order stamps into the Stamp Safe, or in Operations, then Logistics, and that a clerk carries sheets to this counter.

A stamp buyer is seated only at a Service Counter that has at least as many sheets as they want. If a free window is short, they rotate so someone else can use it. The sale completes only when a clerk finishes that window and the counter still has the sheets. Otherwise the customer walks out and you get a stamp-stock notice.

The Auto Postage kiosk does not need a clerk at the window. It still refuses the sale unless the nearest Service Counter has enough sheets, and those sheets come off that counter.

Stamp safe

  • Build cost 480. Place it in Customer Service. New stamp orders arrive here.
  • Capacity is 8 times a Service Counter, so 960 sheets.
  • Taking sheets out applies furniture wear of 0.2 to the safe. That is durability, not theft.

A clerk who can work a Service Counter restocks the counter with the fewest sheets, once it is under 24 and not already full. They walk to the nearest Stamp Safe that still has sheets, then carry them to that counter. One trip carries up to 36 sheets, limited by what the safe holds and what the counter can still take. Leftover sheets go back into the safe. Inspect on the safe says new orders arrive there and clerks carry sheets to a Service Counter when it runs low.

Stamp orders

Ordering does not wait on the inbound mail truck. Early counter service can sell the opening stock down to zero before a dock and a sorting station exist, and a delivery van would stall on that same missing intake. You spend cash and a supply drop arrives after a short delay. No dock is required.

  • Cost 60. Each order is 36 sheets.
  • You need a Stamp Safe, no order already pending, free space in the safe, and enough funds.
  • Delivery takes 8 simulation seconds. The code comment calls that about 1.6 in-game hours at the labeled 1x clock, and it speeds up when you speed up time.
  • Sheets land in the Stamp Safe. If there is no safe, or the safe cannot take the whole order, the remainder stays pending and does not spill onto a counter.
  • Order from a Service Counter inspect panel, or under Operations, then Logistics. The safe inspect panel explains where the drop arrives.

Inbound truck restock

An inbound mail semi adds 36 sheets when that arrival is counted. The sheets fill Stamp Safes first, lowest stock first. If the safes cannot take them, including when you have no safe, the leftover sheets go onto Service Counters. The restock waits while inbound unload is held, then runs when intake unlocks.

What customers pay

The retail table prices a stamp sheet at 5.50 before service-policy multipliers. Envelopes, boxes, tape, money orders, certified mail, and passport service are separate counter SKUs. See Counter service.
